As someone who has just purchased their first desktop cnc and has no idea where to start, this was a great clear guide. I use Fusion 360 for my 3d printing and would like to use it for my projects for the cnc as well, so I will be sure to keep tuned on your videos and no doubt will be watching this one back multiple times while trying to get my head around the cnc. I am struggling on the iPad following this but things are not going well. Things lock or unluck, will or wont let me edit sizes… frustrating as hell. 😮4 hours so far just to draw a pantry…my god i am pulling my hair out. All i have managed is 1 rectangle. How do I turn off the annoying graphic of the pencil? Everytime i use it it visually gets in the way

Used to say it was pretty useless until I got one at work.... now I'm considering buying one for my hobby. It's just that amazing, but also a bit debilitating, I struggle to navigate models and be efficient with the basic MnK setup now. Worth it 100% if you're a CAD tech'

14:09 If you have used Autocad before, you'll know this feature of selecting. It's just a habit really and handy in some circumstances when you'll need one other the other way of selecting.

Seems like cutting notches on the back, etc is extra work vs side mount slides. Plus I have to listen extra closely because you're going back and forth between mm and inches when giving specs. Still dropped a like for personality and video quality.

What about creating an assembly like kitchen cabinets, how can the cut sheet be transformed to say 4x8 sheets and then export to CAM?

Great video but I keep getting the same issue - once I do the final step to create the toolpath, the bit shows on the Z axis and the toolpath shows that it will only cut from the side as opposed to the top. I suspect that somewhere I have an incorrect setting but cannot find it. Any suggestions?

I’ve made quite a few false starts with Sketchup because people said it was sooo easy to wrap your head around, yet I never found it very intuitive. At all. I can’t remember what steered me to Shapr3d but that program is very easy in comparison, especially using the pen. Right now the free program does it for me since my designing would be sporadic at best and entirely hobby related, but it would be nice to have a bit more that 2 designs going at once, just to keep them saved. It would also be nice to be able to create that technical drawing because one of 5he things I want to design is basically a “room”, except metal instead of wood, so having dimensions for all 5he stud as and whatnot would be handy. And how about a way to design components and save them to categories in a library? I know, a lot of wants for somebody using a free version, but $28/month is a bit steep for a hobbiest doing non-commercial work. Shoot, I’d take a one time purchase option good only for incremental updates. An upgrade fee for major updates, or even a full fee maybe. At least the user has the choice. Subscription based for private use blows great big goats.

I'm enjoying following along with your video, but when I am working on the offset edges before adding the dividers, when I go to select the complete offset edge by double tapping, it selects the entire side/top/bottom instead of grouping the offset edges together. Do I have a selection setting set up weird? Thanks!

What's the trick for getting a good finish in the areas where you have glue squeezeout? Doesn't the glue fill the pores of the wood and prevent stain/poly from looking right in those areas?

Right at at 6:17 your cursor changes to a black pointer and you're able to click stuff like the line and not create another rectangle. If I hit escape just end up with the two lines selected. You never once have explained what you're doing to change the cursor to make those type of selections. Watching tutorials ticks me off sometimes. >:(
